“I could do it at home!” Reflections on a Prayer Space Schools event in Cradley

This week we had absolute privilege of working with Mother Victoria of St Peter’s Church, her brilliant volunteers AND the wonderful staff and pupils of St Peter’s CE Primary School in Cradley on their first ever Prayer Spaces in Schools event.

Headteacher Claire Warford reflects on the experience…

Our first 'Prayer Space' experience was incredibly positive. All the staff were impressed with the way in which their classes accessed the space and there were some lovely conversations going on.  Our volunteers enjoyed interacting with the children and supporting them to pray and reflect.

One child said that they no

longer felt that their worries were

'on their back anymore'.

Children reflected on who needs some help and guidance

Pupils in Year 5 said that they left the prayer space feeling less worried and with a better connection with others and more trust in God. A pupil in Year 4 felt they had a real sense of belonging through accessing puzzles together.

In Year 6 pupils felt that they grew closer to their friends; they had a spiritual; experience passing around a candle and taking turns to say prayers aloud with them. Another child said that, "It made me feel connected to God. I've not felt like that before."

"I didn't realise I could connect

to God by doing activities like that.

I could do it at home."

Our support for Prayer Spaces in Schools events is free for schools and churches. If you would like to explore how you might run a prayer space with your local school, please get in touch with Mike and Jen by emailing - hello@birminghamschoolsconnection.com
