Prayer Spaces in Schools Training
Prayer Spaces in Schools offers children and young people the opportunity to pause, reflect, ask questions, and explore spirituality in a safe, creative, and engaging way. Whether as part of a special event, a focus week, or an ongoing programme, Prayer Spaces can help schools support pupils' spiritual development and wellbeing.
To help churches and school workers run Prayer Spaces events, we have created a Prayer Spaces Resource Kit that can be borrowed and used in local schools. The kit contains everything needed to set up a range of interactive prayer and reflection activities, with clear instructions included for each station. No previous experience is required, making it easy for volunteers and church teams to get started.
Current highlights of the kit include:
Big Questions – encouraging pupils to explore life's biggest questions and share their thoughts.
Mirrors – helping children reflect on identity, self-worth, and how they see themselves.
Be Still Tent – creating a calm, peaceful space for quiet reflection and prayer.
The resource kit will continue to grow, with additional activities and materials being added over time.
The kit is stored at Stirchley Community Church and is available for churches to borrow for use in local schools. If you would like to enquire about availability or make a booking, please get in touch. We encourage churches to plan ahead, particularly during busy school terms.
We hope this resource will enable more schools to experience the benefits of Prayer Spaces and provide meaningful opportunities for reflection, prayer, and conversation.
As well as the free use of the Prayer Spaces kit, we offer free bespoke training on how to run a successful Prayer Spaces in Schools event for you and your church volunteers.
We will plan the training with you but could include:
How to approach your local school
How to engage and build a team
How to tell the story of the Prayer Space to your wider church community
What good safeguarding looks like
How to plan and resource your Prayer Space
How to organise a Prayer Space on a theme - for example Advent, Easter or Moving On
